Lise
Solvang has several mottos that represent herself and
her company, her first and foremost being, “To
attack the conventional and give birth to magnificence”.
Utilizing
the long time generational traditions and the conventional
art of hand-knitting from her native country Norway,
Lise combines this craft with the modern fashion of
today. This earned her way into the high-end fashion
market, where she was immediately noticed by, and featured
in, high profile magazines such as Vogue and Elle.
Simultaneously, clients like Saks Fifth Avenue started
knocking on her door, and this soon led to a private
client base consisting of several celebrity customers
as well as high profile television shows, film and commercials.
Lise’s
hand-knit dresses and gowns have always been inspired
and influenced by Norse Mythology and Folklore, her
other passion in life. The gowns would each be named
after a mythical creature and have a story attached
to them, written by Lise.
As a side note Lise has written several plays based
on Norwegian Fairy Tales, and became part of an educational
program for the Elementary schools in this community.
Her first CD “The magical Kingdom of the Trollz”,
funded by the Norwegian Government, is being picked
up by a major company here in the U.S. for sale in September
2005.
Going forward
to her second motto “To create the art of blurring
the lines to the point of unpredictability”.
Lise Solvang
is now taking her conventional art form and going one
step further, into the world of high-tech.
She will be launching www.dailyknits.com,
a knitting portal which will feature daily knit tips,
knit trivia, quote of the day, patterns, links to other
knitting or yarn sites. Everything a modern woman of
today who knits would want to wake up in the morning
and start her day with.
In the past
year the number of knitters between the ages of 18 and
45 have quadrupled. Most of these women (and men) are
on the web surfing for news and information. www.dailyknits.com
will supply the best starting point for this quest for
information. In addition there will of course be a knitting
blog featured. Tapping in to the world of blogging is
important for any company who wants to evolve and keep
communication lines open.
Blogs are
open to the world, bloggers read each other, comment,
and link from one page to the next. They create a global
conversation. Lise wants to create her knitting blog
to be able to host the very best conversation in the
world of knitting.
And we end
with Lise’s last motto “To risk taking the
solo flight to independence and uniqueness”
